Prompt: If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?
Background: I was born Joseph R Mason but my birth mother died when I was 4 days old. I was subsequently adopted and my name changed to Richard J Kirk. For the full story see: https://richardkirkauthor.com/about/
A name, a mark, a whispered sound,
Richard J. Kirk, on familiar ground.
A history held, a path well-trod,
Connections woven, by man and God.
But whispers stir, a different call,
As seasons turn, and shadows fall.
A choice is made, a new design,
To step across a different line.
No sudden loss, no past erased,
But future drawn, with quiet haste.
From Kirk’s strong roots, a branch extends,
As Joseph R. Mason now transcends.
A subtle shift, a fresh embrace,
New rhythms found, in time and space.
The old still echoes, softly deep,
While new horizons start to sweep
.
So let the letters softly blend,
A journey starting, without end.
From Richard’s echo, clear and bright,
To Joseph’s dawn, in morning light.
